Manal Hajali, O.D.
Medical Director, Board-Certified Optometrist
Dr. Hajali is dedicated to providing the best care to her patients. Her main interests are specialty contact lenses, dry eye treatment, myopia management, and orthokeratology. She is experienced in managing many ocular conditions.
More about Manal Hajali, O.D.
Dr. Hajali graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude. She was elected to the Tomb and Key Honor Society and received an award for clinical excellence. She gained expertise in advanced care and ocular diseases through externships at several ophthalmology centers in the Chicago area.
In addition to her training in vision therapy at the Illinois Eye Institute, she took part in the pediatric outreach program, where she examined infants, toddlers, and children at various schools and daycares across Chicago. She also provided eye exams for patients with special needs at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education and the Victor Newman Center.
During her externship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, she gained extensive experience in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. She later completed a fellowship in hereditary retinal diseases and electrophysiology at the University of Illinois Medical Center, where she conducted research on hereditary retinal diseases, developing projects and publishing articles to support future treatment trials.
In 2009, Dr. Hajali founded Quality Eye Care Clinic in Elgin, offering a wide range of services including emergency care, ocular disease treatment, and contact lenses. Later on, she established a Dry Eye Center of Excellence and specialized in treating dry eye syndrome and fitting scleral lenses for keratoconus and other corneal irregularities. Additionally, she co-manages LASIK and cataract surgeries including those with advanced bifocal-lens implants.
Dr. Hajali is an adjunct professor at the Illinois College of Optometry and a certified member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control. She is also affiliated with the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and Illinois Association of Prevention of Blindness.
Outside of work, Dr. Hajali enjoys traveling with her husband and three children and volunteering in the community.
Kevin J. Kovach, M.D.
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Kevin J. Kovach is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience. He has been involved with research and development in advanced cataract surgery. He believes strongly in collaborating with optometrists to ensure each patient receives comfortable and comprehensive care.
He strives to provide the highest quality clinical and surgical care. He believes in understanding the patient’s lifestyle and using the latest technology to achieve the best results and the highest level of patient satisfaction.

He was the first surgeon in the state of Illinois to perform SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) and EVO ICL (implantable collamer lens), two of the most advanced vision correction procedures available in the U.S.
He is also skilled and experienced in alternative refractive procedures including refractive lens exchange (RLE) also called clear lens exchange (CLE).
His other professional interests include glaucoma management, corneal eye disease management, and diabetic eye disease management. Additionally, he specializes in ocular surface treatment, which includes LipiFlow®, a tear film treatment for dry eyes.
Mateen K. AliNiazee, M.D.
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Mateen K. AliNiazee is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience. He has been involved with research and development in advanced cataract surgery.
He has been keenly focused on the latest advancements in technology to deliver the highest quality surgical eye care. He is a strong supporter of the co-management model for the delivery of eye care and surgical co-management with optometrists.

He is experienced in cataract and refractive surgery, advanced technology intraocular lenses, laser vision correction procedures such as SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) and LASIK, and lens-based procedures such as EVO ICL (implantable collamer lens) and refractive lens exchange. He also specializes in glaucoma management and surgery and diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration management and treatments, along with pterygium surgery.
He strives to provide the best care possible. He believes in understanding the patient’s lifestyle and remains at the forefront of advanced technology. He personalizes the treatment to each patient’s lifestyle to achieve the best possible outcomes and peak performance vision.
Nicole Van Cura, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Van Cura graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in health and human sciences. She then went on to receive her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry as a part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and graduated cum laude. She received training at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital Eye Center and James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in ocular disease management along with post-operative care of cataract and laser eye surgeries. She gained experience in specialty contact lenses while at Vision Care Specialists and performed functional vision exams at Spectrios Institute for Low Vision.

While training at the Illinois Eye Institute, she acquired extensive knowledge in vision therapy, along with pediatric and geriatric eye care. Through her externships, she has gained a wide knowledge base of eyecare including glaucoma management, diabetic eye care, and urgent care. While completing her education at the Illinois Eye Institute, she participated in clinical research pertaining to how digital device use affects dry eye symptoms.
Dr. Van Cura is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. Her clinic interests include dry eye management, fitting contact lenses, and participating in the care of patients in all age groups.
Yasham Alam, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Alam is an optometrist who grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate studies with Honors in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and later received her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry with a Clinical Excellence Award. She gained training in specialty contact lens fits and anterior segment disease at Chicago Cornea Consultants. Along with her pediatrics and low vision training at the Illinois Eye Institute, she worked with Chicago Public Schools to provide comprehensive eye exams to students of all ages. She has completed extensive training in ocular disease and advanced care at the Jesse Brown VA and University of Chicago Medical Center.

Through her previous externships and her extensive work in medical optometry, she has gained excellent experience in managing patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and red eye management. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Alam has a strong passion for helping others and likes to provide care for patients of all ages. During her free time, Dr. Alam enjoys many activities, such as hiking, reading, tennis, and spending time with her family.
Marius Gradianu, D.O.
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Gradianu is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, and dry eye disease. Dr. Gradianu’s areas of expertise include micro-invasive sutureless cataract surgery with implantation of advanced technology intraocular lenses, laser-assisted cataract surgery, glaucoma laser treatments, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery and implants (MIGS), corneal crosslinking, and cosmetic procedures with BOTOX.
